A summary of the book "Rethinking Tradition in Modern Islamic Thought" by Daniel Brown.. Definitions: Hadith = saying (or report/statement/tale) Sunna = way (or method). Please note that a summary based on what I think to be the important and interesting points will be subjective.

Hadith terminology (Arabic: مُصْطَلَحُ الحَدِيْث ‎, romanized: muṣṭalaḥ al-ḥadīth) is the body of terminology in Islam which specifies the acceptability of the sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad by other early Islamic figures of significance, such as Muhammad's family and/or successors. Individual terms distinguish between those hadith considered. Both men and women can serve as muhaddithin (traditionists). The requirements for a muhaddith are the same requirements that apply to the reception and transmission of reports (riwayah) in the Islamic tradition more generally: truthfulness, integrity, a competent and accurate memory, being free of prejudice or compulsion that might be presumed to distort the reporting.

“But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.” () Introduction. Mubasher Hussain published a book review of The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World (Angelico Press / Sophia Perennis, ) in Islamic Studies (): For this I am a grateful as it helps stimulate research, debate, and discussion .   Joe Biden.
